System Overview

Solar collectors work by converting the Sun’s energy into heat, which is used to heat a thermal fluid, this process works from ultra violet light so will work even on cloudy days. There are a variety of solar collector designs available, however Alternative Energy Technology recommend the evacuated tube type as these are the most efficient.

The Solar Collector consists of a set of tubes that collect the Sun’s energy and a condenser, that transfers the energy from the tubes to a thermal transfer fluid. The thermal transfer fluid is then pumped into the property in a sealed system and used to heat water in a tank. This system provides supplementary water heating energy in order to reduce the fuel required by the properties main heating system.
